Lombard Street in the Nob Hill neighborhood of San Francisco

On the first full day in San Francisco, in our road trip coast to coast by United States, at 8 in the morning we were already having breakfast at the hotel reception waiting for us to come to look for the Sightseeing Tour by double decker bus.

They were punctual and we got on a coach, with decoration that emulated a tram and quite open to the outside.

When we were carrying a couple of blocks of travel, I realized that I had left the forgotten camera at the hotel reception. After almost a month with the camera in tow I go and I forget it !!

Anyway, I had to get off the bus, which would not wait for me because I had to pick up tourists in other hotels, so they indicated the specific direction where they would wait for me.

I ran back to the hotel, and with some nice joke from the serious Hindu reception, they gave me the photo machine indicating who had found it and delivered it to the reception. Neither short nor lazy I addressed that gentleman and thanked him for his honesty.

Again I had to run through the San Francisco streets to the hotel where they were waiting for me. Panting I boarded the coach, and after a few minutes we reached Fisherman's wharf, where the tour started from.

During the journey from the hotel to the tour bus departure, the driver was explaining many funny anecdotes about the city, such as the one assigned to Mark Twain He said in his day: I've never had a winter as cold as a summer in San Francisco.

Without a doubt, a good reflection of the characteristic San Francisco microclimate; and the truth is that we were cold.

He also put us on the public address music and songs about San Francisco, like I left my heart in San Francisco from Tony Bennet, If You're are going to San Francisco Scott McKenzie or Sitting in the dock of the bay from Ottis Reading. Beautiful songs that moved us, because listening to these songs in San Francisco has nothing to do, but nothing, with listening to them elsewhere.

The tour on the double-decker bus, which we could hear in Spanish, lasted about three and a half hours and was quite complete.

We pass by downtown San Francisco and through the different neighborhoods of the city; by painted houses; by Castro, gay neighborhood par excellence; by Dolores mission, the first Spanish mission in the city; for the famous Chinatown Chinatown; by Lombard street, with its very steep slope doing eses, decorated with flowers; and from the docks of the bay we could see the distant silhouette of the Alcatraz island.

We also cross the Golden Gate suspension bridge, round trip, which was covered with a lot of fog. The bus stopped at Vista Point, from where you can see the bridge with a privileged perspective.

We also saw the great Golden Gate Park, with its varied gardens, its walks, its attractions, its squirrels and its Japanese garden, which we saw from the outside (the next day we visited it inside).

At the end of the tour they left us again in Fisherman's wharf. We ate at a pizzeria right there and took a ramshackle tram to the hotel.

Later, We drive down the famous Lombard street, very steep, with its famous zigzagging stretch. Of course we stopped, like all tourists, and took the photos of rigor. The attraction of the street for many tourists is to be able to drive their car through the winding part of the street, as we did!

Next we went to Sausalito going through the Golden gate. Sausalito is a city in the San Francisco Bay area, whose name means "sauzalito": small willow grove.

Located next to the Golden Gate Bridge, it houses about 7,000 inhabitants and acquired a reputation as a colony of artists and bohemians who lived in houseboats on the bay.

After crossing the famous red bridge again, we returned to the hotel, where we had dinner in the room, made the necessary steps via internet and to sleep.

The weather was cloudy with sun at certain times, fog in the Golden Gate and a temperature between 13º and 18º. Pretty cool day when we bought some warm clothes, like sweatshirts.
