He closing convent of the Poor Clare Sisters of Chinchón opens its doors exceptionally since October 29, on the occasion of the exposition Treasures of the Clausura.
In this way, now you have a new pretext for visit Chinchón, town of great tourist attraction to southeast of Madrid, thanks to the agreement between its town hall and the order of the Poor Clare Sisters that allows you to discover the culture and art behind its walls.
This exposition, which is open to visitors on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, until December 9, shows the artistic objects and decorative pieces that have adorned the rooms and chapels of the Convent-Monastery of the Purest Conception of Chinchón.
The exhibition visit It begins in the church of the convent, from where you can access the closing area to, through long corridors, reach the cloister and the low choir. In this one you can see the marble mausoleum of the Counts of Chinchón.
Paintings, sculptures and small religious images make up this exceptional exhibition.
Concerts of religious music in the convent of the Poor Clares of Chinchón
In parallel to it, from October 27 until December the religious music concert cycle Music in Tempore, which is celebrated in the same convent-monastery.
Thus, on October 27 there is a gospel music concert by the Living Mater choir; on November 17, a string music concert of the MQM association; on November 24 the vocal music group performs In Hora Sexta; on December 6, soloist Ana Alcalde will sing The Cantiga del Fuego; and finally on December 8 it is interpreted The Origins of Polyphony by the aforementioned MQM association and the Salve Mater group.
The concert schedules they are, in all cases, at 20 hours, and the admission is free.<>
