One of the exhibitions most important of the new cultural season in Madrid it is without a doubt, Encounters with the 30s, what can you see at Reina Sofia Museum from October 2 to January 7, 2013.
This exhibition adds to the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the completion of the Guernica, emblematic work of Picasso.
Precisely, Picasso It will be one of the protagonists of this exhibition that is characterized by historical research on the conflictive decade of the 30s.
The exposition Encounters with the 30s It brings together more than 400 works that come from various Spanish institutions, such as its own Reina Sofia Museum, the National film library or the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, and prestigious foreign museums, such as the Pompidou Center from Paris, the National Gallery from Washington, the Puskin museum from Moscow, or the MOMA, Guggenheim and Metropolitan Museum from New York.
Occupying two thousand square meters, the exhibition takes place on the second floor of the main headquarters, the Sabatini building, where the great protagonist work of it is the Guernica, as well as on the first floor.
You can see works of the most prestigious artists of the time, among others, of Picasso, He looked, Yves Tanguy, Man ray, Max Beckmann, Andre Masson, Mondrian, Kandinsky, Luis Buñuel or Joaquín Torres-García.
The exposition it's divided in six sections different: realisms; abstraction; exhibition culture: national and international projects; surrealism; photography, cinema and posters; Spain: Second Republic, Civil War and exile. They reflect the main problems of the time from the political, aesthetic and cultural point of view.
As a complement to the exhibition, from October 4 to 30 the film cycle Blue flowers in a catastrophic landscape, 1930's cinema.
The exhibition visiting hours Encounters with the 30s (from October 2) they are, from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On Tuesdays the museum is closed.
The ticket prices, if you only visit the temporary exhibition, it is 3 euros. and to also see the collection, 6 euros.
